Advanced Style Film: trailer

Just to make sure I don’t get sued or anything, all credit goes to http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com/ who are making a documentary about ‘stylish New York older ladies’, directed by Lina Plioplyte (http://www.teenagepeanut.com/).

These women are inspirational. I think that all women, no matter what age, can learn a lesson from them, about being who you are and doing what you like, without worrying about what society expects of you. Really looking forward to seeing the documentary later this year.

Miss Representation

Jennifer Siebel Newsom wrote, directed and produced the documentary Miss Representation, a film exposing the shocking influence the media has on self image, and the degrading way in which women are represented.

I am not a huge fan of her as a speaker. While she is passionate, it is not displayed in a way in which captures my attention. However, what she is actually saying is fantastic. Her message is shocking, and its one that everyone should pay attention to. The fact is that even if progress has been made in terms of inequality between the sexes, this problem is not one of the past. Jennifer Siebel Newsom is an inspiration because she has fought for women, and fought against the injustice facing women in the world. Women need to take a stand against this discrimination. If not, we face a lifetime of inequality, and so do our daughters.
